Not only this week marks the birthdays of Jenn and Paige, but it's also the 40th birthday of the famous Nike swoosh.
the iconic logo was designed by Carolyn Davidson nearly 40 years ago. It was reported that she billed the company $2 dollars per hour for 17.5 hours, or 35 dollars, for one of the most recognizable logos in modern history. However, to show their appreciation for what the swoosh had become, in 1983, Nike co-founder Phil Knight and the rest of Blue Ribbon team held a surprise party for her at the Nike office. Along wih a swoosh-shaped gold ring, studded with a small diamond, Nike presented her a stock certificate of the company. Though till this day, Davidson won't disclose just how much shares she received at the time. A rough calculation reveals if she had held onto just a single share of Nike's stock, which she said she did, from 83 to now including all the stock splits, that one share would amount to $643,035.
Thanks for the bday shout out! Here's to gemini's!
